Josey Weaver

Josey Weaver is in his first year with the Murray State Racers as assistant cross country and track & field Coach in the 2016-17 school year.
A native of Weaverville, N.C., Weaver’s responsibilities are coaching the Racer distance runners, as he did in the previous two years at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
Weaver experienced tremendous success at Butler. He coached 14 NJCAA All-Americans in 16 different events (2 Cross Country) (12 Indoor/Outdoor Track) and 26 National Qualifiers. His student-athletes won 12 Individual Regional Championships and had two National Runner ups – (Pole Vault, DMR Relay).
Weaver was named NJCAA Region VI Coach of the Year for women’s cross country in 2015.
Team titles included three men’s track & field regional titles and three women’s cross country regional titles.
Weaver graduated from Western Carolina University in 2012 and completed his Master’s from WCU in 2014.
He was a fine runner in his own right at WCU where he competed still holds a pair of school records: the 8K cross country event in 24:16) & the indoor 5K in 14:36.
Weaver is USATF Level 1 certified.
