Before MSU: Joined the Racers after an outstanding run at Marshall County High School where he was the medalist at the 2007 Kentucky State Tournament as a sophomore with scores of 72-72=144, his team at MCHS also won the team title ... He was named Kentucky Mr. Golf after the 2007 season ... As a junior in 2008, he was part of an MCHS team that finished second at state and he lost the individual title only after losing in a playoff after he fired rounds of 71-68=139 ... In 2009, he took fourth at the state tournament.
Personal: Born March 8, 1992, son of Mat and Tiffany Thompson ... Majoring in middle school education ... Career low score is a 63 at Benton Country in Benton, Ky., in 2010.
