Cutchin Field has been the home of Murray State soccer since the program's inception in 2000. Located beside the Curris Center and across the street from Racer Arena, the facility sits in the heart of campus, making it easily accessible to students, who attend matches in large numbers.
The venue features a 72-by-114-yard Bermuda grass playing surface, a state-of-the-art scoreboard and a sprinkler system that keeps the field in top condition. Team shelters like those seen at the professional and world championship levels are in place at both benches and the scorer's table.
In 2008, the Racers moved into the Crisp Soccer-Tennis Complex, adjacent to Cutchin Field, which houses locker rooms, a coaches office and athletic training space.
Before its soccer days, Cutchin Field served as the home of Murray State football from 1924 to 1972. The Thoroughbreds — later known as the Racers — won 142 games at the site, including the inaugural OVC championship in 1948.
The field is named for Carlisle Cutchin, a multi-sport coach who served as Murray State's second football coach (1925-30) and first men's basketball coach (1925-41). He also coached baseball at Murray State (1928-32, 1941, 1946-53).
