Racers clinch OVC Championship berth with 3-0 shutout at Tennessee Tech

The Murray State women's volleyball team clinched a berth in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament with a 3-0 shutout at Tennessee Tech tonight, 30-11, 33-31, 30-26.
The Racers (16-5, 10-1 OVC) are the first team to clinch a spot in this year's championship.
Murray State came out on fire in the first game with an attack percentage of .607, making only two errors in 28 attacks, and kept Tennessee Tech (9-15, 4-7 OVC) off-guard with a game attack percentage of -.061 in the 30-11 Racer win.
Both teams hit well in Game 2, with the Golden Eaglettes hitting .408 and MSU hitting .345 in the 33-31 extra-points thriller, while MSU held TTU to .104 hitting in the 30-26 clincher.
Murray State was led by freshman outside hitter Lilli Zhan, who had 18 kills and one error in 28 attacks for a .607 percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Paige Sun had 17 kills and a .361 attack percentage, while junior outside hitter Kimberly Bunnage added 13 kills.
Zhan repelled a match-high 13 digs, while freshman middle blocker Katie Kemezys had a team-high three blocks. Sophomore setter Nikki Wong handed out a match-high 42 assists for the Racers.
Tennessee Tech was paced by a match-high 23 kills from Laura Sidorowicz. Liz Engel and Laura Tyburski had nine digs apiece to lead the Golden Eaglettes, while Annette Kupka had a match-high seven blocks.
Murray State continues its five-match road swing with a Saturday match at Austin Peay at 5 p.m.
