Zhan sees 20/20 as five Racers have double-figures in kills, digs in 3-1 win

Freshman outside hitter Lilli Zhan had a well-focused match at Austin Peay this evening, as she claimed a 20/20 night -- 20 kills and 24 digs -- in helping the Murray State volleyball team win 3-1 over the Lady Govs, 30-28, 37-35, 27-30, 30-14 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
The 20/20 feat is Zhan's first of the season, the fourth for the Racers this year. Paige Sun has performed the feat twice, and Kimberly Bunnage has done it once.
Zhan had a team-high 20 kills and only five errors in 48 attacks for an attack percentage of .312. She also had three blocks in the match.
Sun added 19 kills and a match-high 25 digs to go with a co-match-high two aces. Sun had only four errors in 50 attacks for a .300 percentage.
Bunnage had 15 kills with only four errors in 39 attacks for a .282 percentage. She repelled 17 digs and had two blocks in the match.
Sophomore setter Nikki Wong had 14 kills with only one error in 29 attacks for a .448 percentage. She handed out a co-match-high 61 assists for MSU (17-5, 11-1 OVC).
Freshman middle blocker Katie Kemezys celebrated her birthday with 10 kills and only two errors in 21 attacks for a .381 percentage. She also had three blocks in the match.
Junior middle blocker Danielle Sutterer had a co-match-high four blocks for the Racers, while junior defensive specialist Casandra Ersel had 17 digs and freshman outside hitter Julie Lashley had 13 digs.
Murray State outhit the Lady Govs (12-13, 7-5 OVC) in every game except the third, sealing the match by hitting .618 in Game 4 with no errors in 34 attacks.
Austin Peay was paced by Sarah Schramka's 25 kills and 23 digs. Laura Wussow had 20 kills and four blocks, while Amy Walk had 16 kills, 18 digs and four blocks. Jamie deTurck handed out 61 assists and had 13 digs, while Julie Burkhalter had 12 digs.
Murray State has won 16 of its last 17 OVC matches, dating back to last season.
The Racers conclude this five-match road swing with a match at defending OVC champion Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday at 7 p.m. MSU returns home for a conference match against Tennessee State on Friday at 7 p.m.
