Jones' 25 Points Leads Blue Team Past Witherspoon's White Squad

Senior guard Rick Jones scored 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field to lead the Blue Squad past the White Squad 105-86 at today's Blue-White Scrimmage at the Regional Special Events Center.
Jones, a native of Georgetown, Ky., was 5-of-6 from behind the three-point line to lead five players scoring in double-figures for the Blue Squad.
Witherspoon, a redshirt freshman from Oviedo, Fla., led all scorers with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-7 from behind the three-point line. He also added six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
The Blue Squad shot a blistering 65-percent from the field on 39-of-60 shooting. Junior guard Adam Chiles finished the day with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting and six rebounds, while junior forward Kelvin Brown added 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and five rebounds.
The White squad had four players in double-figures paced by Witherspoon. Senior forward Antione Whelchel added 17 points , eight rebounds and six assists, while guard Trey Pearson, who is sitting out the '03-'04 season after transferring from Ole Miss, had 15 points.
The Racers will play their second and final exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7:15 p.m. against VASDA-USA at the RSEC in Murray. MSU's regular-season opener is set for Nov. 22 against Wagner at the RSEC in an opening round game of the Pittsburgh Holiday Classic.
