MSU TV 11 Giving Fans Even More Racer Basketball Action In 2003-04

One measure of a basketball program's success is its television exposure. In addition to the occasional appearances on network TV, most major programs have a large number of games that are broadcast on a delayed basis.
With replays of all home games available on MSU TV 11 this season, Racer basketball can be seen in 25,000 homes on Charter, Mediacom and Murray Electric cable services covering Calloway, Marshall and Graves counties.
“We want to thank Stan Marinoff the director of the university's Broadcast Media Services and the staff of MSU 11 for all of their diligent work in getting our basketball games replayed on the air,” Racer athletic director E.W. Dennison said. “It gives us another way to market the product that Coach Cronin has put together.”
At most schools, delayed broadcasts are only available for home games. Such is not the case at MSU as an effort is made to provide coverage of road games as well. Often that's not possible, but some road games will be shown on TV 11 this year.
Of course, none of this could be done without help from the community.
“Without the support of Chuck Jones and Integrated Computer Solutions along with Pepsi MidAmerica, we wouldn't be able to afford these replays,” Assistant Athletic Director Kenny Roth noted. “Both of these companies are always willing to help the Racers when called upon.”
Some schools shy away from televising home games because they fear that it will hurt attendance. Such has not been the case at MSU as attendance has actually increased.
Having the games available on a delayed basis creates excitement and helps encourage fans to come in person whenever they can. It also gives fans the opportunity to build their own library of Racer basketball games on video.
As this magical season unfolds, more and more fans are doing that by taping the delayed broadcasts, giving themselves memories which will last a lifetime.
