Lady Racers Open Indoor Season At SIU

The Murray State women's track and field team opened the indoor season this weekend at the McDonald's Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.
The Lady Racers finished tied for seventh in the eight-team event with 19 points. Southeast Missouri State won the team title with 137 points followed by host SIU in second with 131 points.
Junior thrower Jamie Nurnberger led the way for MSU with a fourth-place finish in the weigh throw with a distance of 54 feet, 2.75 inches.
Other point-scorers for MSU were:
Lashondra Durias, fifth, 60-meter dash, 7.89 seconds; Women's distance medley team, third, 13:44.13; LaShondra Durias, sixth, 200 meter dash, 26.27; 4x400 meter relay team, third, 3:56.89.
Up next, MSU will compete at the Tennessee State Invitational on Feb. 1 in Nashville, Tenn.
