Racers swept at Samford

The Murray State women's volleyball team faced a tough defense at Samford tonight, as the Bulldogs beat the Racers 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference action tonight. The game scores were 31-29, 30-24, 30-14.
Murray State (3-6, 0-3 OVC) were held to a .044 attack percentage, as Samford (4-8, 2-1 OVC) came out strong with seven blocks and 56 digs.
Senior outside hitter Kimberly Bunnage and sophomore outside hitter Holly Jansen led the Racer attack with 10 kills apiece. Senior libero Casandra Ersel served up a match-high three aces, while freshman setter Ashley Meagher -- playing in her first career match -- handed out a team-high 26 assists.
Ersel repelled a match-high 23 digs, while Bunnage had 11, picking up her fifth double-double of the season and the 13th of her career.
For Samford, Kristin Berryman had a match-high 14 kills, while Angela Dempski had 11. Eileen Hatfield had 22 digs, while Robin Bishop had a match-high four blocks. Abby Sites handed out a match-high 36 assists for the Bulldogs.
Murray State visits Jacksonville State tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m.
