SEMO outlasts Racers 3-1

The Murray State women's volleyball team battled host Southeast Missouri in the first two games of their match tonight, but the Otahkians were able to push past the Racers, 3-1, in Ohio Valley Conference action. Game scores were 32-30, 25-30, 30-23, 30-18.
On defense, Murray State (6-16, 3-12 OVC) had 94 digs to SEMO's 88, led by sophomore libero Julie Lashley's 26. Sophomore outside hitter Holly Jansen added 18 digs for MSU, while senior setter Casandra Ersel and senior outside hitter Kimberly Bunnage had 16 apiece.
Bunnage led the Racer offense with 16 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Katie Kemezys added 11 and sophomore outside hitter Allie Hunt had 10. Senior middle blocker Danielle Sutterer had a match-high .353 attack percentage, with nine kills and three errors in 17 attacks.
Lashley served up a co-match-high three aces, while Ersel handed out a match-high 43 assists.
For SEMO (10-16, 8-7 OVC), Jessica Koeper had a match-high 17 kills, while Jill Miller had 14. Miller and Lauren Scannell had 25 digs apiece, while Jamie Baumstark had 13 and Shannon Muesenfechter had 10. Baumstark and Miller served up three aces, while Baumstark handed out 40 assists.
Murray State will close out its 2004 season tomorrow (Saturday) at 7 p.m. at Eastern Illinois.
