Perseverance and a lot of hard work finally paid of for the Murray State women's volleyball team, as a staunch defense brought the Racers a 3-0 win over visiting Tennessee-Martin in Ohio Valley Conference action tonight. Game scores were 30-25, 30-24, 30-27.
The win snapped an eight-match skid for MSU (5-15, 2-11 OVC) and was the final home match of the season for the Racers.

Sophomore middle blocker Katie Kemezys added nine kills and had no errors in 19 attacks for a .474 attack percentage. She also had six blocks. Senior middle blocker Danielle Sutterer rejected five blocks for MSU.

"We had a very hard workout yesterday," said MSU head coach David Schwepker. "We worked on defense specifically. We told them to watch the hitter, because that will tell you where the ball is going to go.
"(Murray State) has been working hard all year long, and they really worked hard tonight, and it paid off."
Murray State has a week off before visiting Tennessee State on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
