Bunnage gets 20-20 at TSU

Senior Kimberly Bunnage picked up a 20-20 in the Murray State volleyball team's match at Tennessee State tonight, slamming a match-high 22 kills and repelling a match-high 21 digs in the Racers' 3-1 win in Ohio Valley Conference action. Game scores were 33-31, 25-30, 30-22, 30-16.
The 21 digs was a season-high for Bunnage, who picked up her 13th double-double of the season and only her second 20-20 night as a Racer. The win was the second straight for MSU (6-15, 3-11 OVC).
At Tennessee State, Murray State struggled early on, overcoming a 29-25 deficit in Game 1 to win 33-31 and falling in Game 2 30-25.
The Racers hit .083 in the second game, but hit a combined.306 in the next two games, scoring the last four points in Game 3 to win 30-22 and scoring 11 of the last 13 points in Game 4 to win 30-16.
Sophomore outside hitter Holly Jansen and sophomore middle blocker Katie Kemezys added 11 kills apiece for the Racers, while sophomore outside hitter Allie Hunt put down 10. Kemezys rejected a match-high eight blocks for MSU, and hit .333 with only one error in 30 attacks.
Sophomore libero Julie Lashley repelled 17 digs, while Hunt had 13 and senior setter Casandra Ersel had 11. Lashley had a co-match-high three aces, while Ersel handed out a match-high 45 assists.
For Tennessee State (4-26, 1-13 OVC) Catherine Armwood had a team-high 17 kills, while Allyson Buckner had 15. Armwood had a team-high 19 digs, while Jennifer Washington had 17 and Kelly Davis had 11. Thereza Wright had a team-high seven blocks, while Davis, Janique Saber and Ashley Douglas each had five. Davis served up three aces and handed out 44 assists.
Murray State closes out its season with matches at Southeast Missouri State on Friday at 7 p.m. and at Eastern Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m.
