Racers battle at No. 2 West Florida

Just one day removed from playing NCAA Division II's 11th-ranked Southwest Baptist to a 5-2 loss, the Murray State men's tennis team faced Division II's No. 2 West Florida team on its home court and came away with a 7-0 loss this afternoon.
In singles play, Zakaria Bahri lost to UWF's Guillaume deVerbizier -- ranked No. 5 in Division II singles -- 7-6, 6-1, while Masimba Muskwe lost at No. 2 singles to No. 6 Radovan Chrz 6-3, 6-2. Adam Maskill fell at No. 3 singles to Jeronimo Marin 6-2, 7-6, while Jeff Lester lost at No. 4 singles to Karol Szmurlo 6-2, 6-2. Chris Morgan fell at No. 5 singles to Maximiliano Grana 6-2, 6-4, while Bryan Meurer lost at No. 6 singles to Mark McGuigan 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Bahri and Muskwe fell at No. 1 doubles to Chrz and German Dalmagro 8-3 in the eight-game pro set, while Lester and Clayton Clark lost at No. 2 doubles to deVerbizier and Szmurlo 8-2, and Jacobs and Maskill fell at No. 3 doubles to Marin and McGuigan 8-3. West Florida won the doubles point 3-0.
Murray State will host the Murray State Pro-Am on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts. The Racers return to intercollegiate action on March 31 when they host Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m.
