Nurnberger, Lettman Lead The Way For Lady Racers At Vanderbilt

Junior thrower Jamie Nurnberger earned a pair of second-place finishes while senior sprinter Joan Lettman had a pair of top-three's to lead the Murray State women's track and field team to fifth-place at the 15-team Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.
MSU scored 61.5 points to finish ahead of such schools as East Tennessee State in sixth with 53 points, Tennessee Tech in seventh with 33 points, UAB in 10th with 18 points, Memphis in 11th with 17 points and Tennessee-Martin in 13th with three points. Vanderbilt won the team title with 209.5 points.
Nurnberger, a native of Brighton, Ill., finished second in the discus with a toss of 133 feet, two inches and second in the hammer with a distance of 157-06 to score 16 points for MSU.
Lettman, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, who qualified for the NCAA Regionals earlier this season, finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.72 seconds and third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.70 to score 14 points for the Lady Racers.

Chanel Morgan, eighth, long jump, 17-01.25; LaShondra Durias, seventh, 100-meter dash, 12.01; LaShondra Durias, fifth, 200-meter dash, 24.84; Kristen Murray, sixth, high jump, 4-11.75; Shanah Zigler, third, pole vault, 10-00; Chanel Morgan, sixth, triple jump, 34-07.50; Emily Rader, eighth, javelin, 94-11.
Up next, the Lady Racers will host the MSU Twilight Invitational on April 24 at Roy Stewart Stadium / Marshall Gage Track.
