Lady Racers Win Three Event Titles At MSU Twilight Invitational

The Murray State women's track and field team won three event titles at the MSU Twilight Invitational on Saturday at Roy Stewart Stadium / Marshall Gage Track. The event, which is MSU's final prep before next month's Ohio Valley Conference Championships, was an unscored meet.
MSU was led by senior sprinter Joan Lettman's first-place time of 54.84 seconds in the 400-meter dash and freshman sprinter LaShondra Durias, a native of Louisville, Ky., who was the top collegiate performer in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.20. Lettman, from Toronto, Ontario, has already qualified for the NCAA Regionals set for later this season with her season-best time of 54.59 seconds on April 3.
The Lady Racers also won the 4x400-meter relay title with a time of 3:55.60 as Lettman came from behind in the final leg to edge second-place Southern Illinois.
Sophomore distance runner Lauren Wilson, a native of Louisville, Ky., had a solid day for MSU with a second-place time of 4:53.79 in the 1,500-meter run and a third-place time of 2:21.17 in the 800-meter run, while freshman Nicole Peterson, also from Louisville, earned a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.79.

MSU will next compete in the OVC Championships on May 7-8 hosted by Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
