Racers Fall To Eastern Illinois

The Murray State men's tennis team dropped a tough 5-2 home decision today to Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Illinois at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
The Racers swept the doubles point led by the senior tandem of Zaharia Bahri and Masimba Muskwe who earned a 9-7 win over EIU's C.J. Weber and Brandon Blankenbaker in No. 1 action.
In No. 2 doubles, MSU's Jeff Lester and Clayton Clark knocked off EIU's Colin Priestner and Brandon Lenfert 8-6, while in No. 3 doubles, MSU's Adam Maskill and Chris Morgan earned an 8-6 win over EIU's Chuck LeVaque and Ryan Blankenbaker.
On the singles side, Chris Morgan earned the Racers' only point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Priestner in the No. 6 spot.
The rest of the singles' results were: No.1 singles - EIU's Weber over Bahri 6-4, 6-2; No. 2 singles - B. Blankenbaker over Muskwe 6-4, 6-4; No. 3 singles - LeVaque over Maskill 6-2, 3-6, 6-2; No. 4 singles - R. Blankenbaker over Clark 6-0, 6-4; No. 5 singles - Lenfert over Lester 6-4, 6-7, 10-7.
Murray State continues it's full week of OVC action at home with Jacksonville State on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Samford on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Racers then visit Austin Peay on Monday at 2:30 p.m. before closing out its regular-season schedule at home against Tennessee-Chattanooga on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The OVC Championship will be played April 16-18 in Nashville, Tenn.
