Racers Drop 5-2 Decision To Samford

Senior Masimba Muskwe earned a pair of victories but it wasn't enough as the Murray State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 home match today to Ohio Valley Conference foe Samford at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
Muskwe earned the Racers' only singles point with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 win over James Bryce in No. 2 singles.
In doubles action, Muskwe teamed with Zaharia Bahri for an 8-4 win over the Bulldogs' Bryce and Johnny Griffee in No. 1 doubles. MSU's Adam Maskill and Chris Morgan knocked off SU's Stuart Misner and Rob Nunnery 9-8 in No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Racers.
The other doubles result was SU's Manuel Miletic and Brad Weaver over MSU's Jeff Lester and Clayton Clark 8-4 in No. 2 doubles. The rest of the singles' results were: No. 1 singles - SU's Miletic over MSU's Bahri 6-2, 6-4; No. 3 singles - SU's Misner over MSU's Maskill 6-1, 6-1; No. 4 singles - SU's Weaver over MSU's Clark 6-0, 7-5; No. 5 singles - SU's Nunnery over MSU's Lester 6-4, 7-6; No. 6 singles - SU's Griffee over MSU's Morgan 6-2, 6-4.
Murray State closes out it's full week of OVC action at home against Jacksonville State on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Racers then visit Austin Peay on Monday at 2:30 p.m. before closing out its regular-season schedule at home against Tennessee-Chattanooga on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The OVC Championship will be played April 16-18 in Nashville, Tenn.
