Pearson's hot shooting nets OVC Newcomer Award

Murray State sophomore Trey Pearson had a great week and was rewarded for it today by being named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the week.
Pearson scored a total of 44 points in two games (22.0 ppg) and made 16-of-30 from the field for the week, including 10-of-19 from three-point range.
Saturday night at Morehead State, the South Fulton, Tenn. product hit 10-of-17 from the floor, including 6-of-11 from 3-point land for a career-high 28 points.
At Eastern Kentucky, he was 6-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc, for 16 points.
At the moment Pearson is working on a string of five straight games in which he has scored in double figures.
He had 22 at Jacksonville State, 11 at UT-Martin, 17 at home against Tennessee State, 16 at Eastern Kentucky, and now 28 against Morehead State.
During the stretch Pearson is 41-81 from the field (.506), 24-47 from three (.510) and scoring 18.8 points per game.
Pearson has scored a double figures in 14 of the 17 games he's played in and has hit a three point shot in nine straight games.
He also made his first 19 free throws of the season.
