Racers fall to Tennessee-Chattanooga

The Murray State men's tennis team was shut out by visiting Tennessee-Chattanooga in Paducah, Ky., yesterday, 7-0.

In singles play, Fadi Zamjoui fell at No. 1 singles to Arturo Navarro 7-6, 6-1, while Chris Morgan lost at No. 2 singles to Thomas Knizat 6-3, 6-2, and Yuri Pompeu fell at No. 3 singles to Ryan Fitzgerald, 6-2, 6-1. Clayton Clark lost at No. 4 singles to Mark Fynn 6-2, 6-2, while Jeff Lester fell at No. 5 singles to Artyom Vlasenko 6-3, 6-0, and Hunter Gerlach lost at No. 6 singles to Tim Kutschero 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Gerlach and Zamjoui fell at No. 1 doubles to Knizat and Navarro 8-4 in the eight-game pro set, while Morgan and Pompeu lost at No. 2 doubles to Fitzgerald and Vlasenko 8-3 and Clark and Lester fell at No. 3 doubles to Fynn and Josh Bales 8-1. UTC won the doubles point 3-0.

Murray State (1-3) next hosts Vincennes on Feb. 26 at the indoor tennis center at Aurora, Ky.
