Nurnberger scores in weight throw in SIU McDonald's Invitational Meet

Junior Jamie Nunberger placed eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 52 feet, 4.5 inches (15.96 meters) at the SIU McDonald's Invitational, held Feb. 4-5 in Carbondale, Ill.
Nurnberger was the only scorer for the MSU women's team at the meet. Host Southern Illinois won the meet with 138 points.
"Things went pretty well," said first-year coach Dereck Chavis. "Some of our people are showing improvement. I think, at this point, that we are showing consistent progress, and hope that things will pan out at the OVC Championships."

Murray State will next compete on Saturday at the MTSU Valentine Invitational at Murfreesboro, Tenn.
