'Breds fall to No. 17 Vanderbilt 5-2

The Murray State Thoroughbreds scored two runs without the need of a hit to tie its game at Vanderbilt at 2-2, but the 17th-ranked (Baseball America) Commodores were able to score three runs in the fourth and shut down the 'Breds 5-2 this evening.
Vanderbilt (13-3) scored first, plating two runs in the first inning when Antoan Richardson drew a one-out walk and Warner Jones singled him to second. The two stole their respective bases, then advanced another base, scoring Richardson. Jones scored on a two-out single by Brian Hernandez, and Vandy took a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second, the 'Breds (10-7) took advantage of free passes, as third baseman Alex Stewart led off with a walk, then took second on a wild pitch. Center fielder Tyler Pittman drew a walk, then catcher Dustin Hennigar reached base on a fielder's error, loading the bases. Stewart scored on a groundout, then Pittman scored on a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Chaz Ebert to tie the score at 2-2.
Vanderbilt scored three runs in the fourth inning and held Murray State scoreless the rest of the way for the win.
Right fielder Loncoln Kent and Stewart got MSU's only hits of the game, although five 'Breds walked in the first 1-2/3 innings.
On the mound, starter Jake Ociesa (2-1) got the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking three in six innings. Charlie Wade came on in the sevnth, allowing no hits and walking two in one inning. Jon Ross Shelton pitched the eighth, allowing no hits, striking out two and walking one in one inning.
Five Commodores each had a hit for Vanderbilt.
On the mound, Michael Wagner (2-0) got the win in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three in 3-1/3 innings. Greg Moviel got the start, allowing two run on no hits, striking out one and walking five in 1-2/3 innings. David Price came on in the sixth, allowing one hit and striking out three in two innings. Cody Crowell came on in the eighth, allowing no hits, striking out two and walking one in one inning. Ryan Rote got his third save of the season, allowing no hits and striking out two in one inning.
Murray State travels to Mobile, Ala., to face South Alabama in a three-day, three-game series. The first game of the series will be played on Friday at 6 p.m
