Racers beat Austin Peay 4-1

The Murray State men's tennis team beat Austin Peay 4-1 this afternoon in Ohio Valley Conference play. The match was moved to the indoor courts at KenLake State Resort Park in Aurora, Ky.

In singles play, Fadi Zamjaoui beat Ankur Singla 6-1, 6-0, while Chris Morgan won at No. 2 singles over Andrew Naidu 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and Jeff Lester won at No. 4 singles over Wes Pancho 7-5, 6-7, 6-3. Yuri Pompeu fell at No. 3 singles to Jon Brown 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles play, Pompeu and Hunter Gerlach won at No. 2 doubles over Pancho and Nabil Lababedi 8-6 in the eight-game pro set, while Lester and Clayton Clark won at No. 3 doubles over Patrick Puertolas and Cody Wall 8-6. Morgan and Zamjaoui won at No. 1 doubles over Naidu and Singla 8-6. MSU won the doubles point 2-1.

Murray State (4-12, 3-4 OVC) will play at Tennessee-Martin tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. to close out its regular-season schedule.
