Racers fall in first round of OVC

The seventh-seeded Racers will take on No. 4 Eastern Kentucky tomorrow (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tenn.
Against Morehead State, Murray State lost the two doubles matches played, then lost four singles matches.
In singles play, Fadi Zamjaoui fell at No. 1 singles to Greg Johnson in a match defaulted after Johnson won the first set 7-5, while Yuri Pompeu lost at No. 3 singles to Peter Taylor 6-2, 6-3. Jeff Lester lost at No. 4 singles to Jacob McLeod 6-1, 6-1, while Clayton Clark fell at No. 6 singles to Adam Storti 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play, Pompeu and Hunter Gerlach fell at No. 2 doubles to Kim Kachel and Damian Storti 8-6 in the eight-game pro set, while Clark and Lester lost at No. 3 doubles to Taylor and Adam Storti 8-4. Morehead State won the doubles point 2-0.
In other first-round matches, No. 1 Samford beat No. 8 Austin Peay 4-0, while No. 3 Jacksonville State beat No. 6 Tennessee-Martin 4-1 and No. 5 Tennessee Tech beat No. 4 Eastern Kentucky 4-0.
Samford will take on Tennessee Tech tomorrow at 4 p.m., while Morehead State will face Jacksonville State tomorrow at 4 p.m., and Tennessee-Martin will meet Austin Peay tomorrow at 11 a.m.
