Schroeder wins OVC javelin title

Laura Schroeder won the conference women's javelin title at the O'Reilly's Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championships, held at Governors Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn. The Championships will conclude tomorrow (Saturday).
Schroeder won the league title with a throw of 126 feet, 10.8 inches (38.68 meters), the longest javelin throw in the conference all season and beating her season-best by almost 30 feet.
Dominique Robinson placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, 8.4 inches (13.32 meters), while Jamie Nurnberger was sixth with a toss of 39 feet, 0.5 inches (11.9 meters).
Lauren Wilson placed ninth in the 800-meter run preliminaries, just missing the cut for tomorrow's finals with a time of 2 minutes, 16.75 seconds. Tiffany Cowan was 24th in the event with a time of 2:38.09. Megan Rainville was ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:20.47.
The Murray State women's outdoor track team is tied for sixth place with 18 points, just a half-point behind Tennessee Tech and five points behind Eastern Kentucky.
