Schroeder, Nurnberger are 2-3 in discus; MSU is seventh at OVC

Laura Schroeder and Jamie Nurnberger finished two-three in the discus at the O'Reilly's Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Governors Stadium in Clarksville, Tenn.
Schroeder had a toss of 135 feet, 7.2 inches (41.33 meters), while Nurnberger threw for 134-7.4 inches (41.03 meters). Their finishes netted Murray State 14 points in that event. Dominique Robinson was 10th in the discus with a toss of 98-7.1 inches (30.05 meters).
Lauren Wilson finished in sixth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 42.45 seconds, claiming three points for MSU.
Chanel Morgan placed 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 1.1 inches (11.00 meters), while Lindsey Neely was 16th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:50.74.
Murray State's women's team finished seventh in the Championships, five points ahead of host Austin Peay. Southeast Missouri State won the women's title with 154 points.
"I told them yesterday that I was very proud of the way they competed," said MSU head coach Dereck Chavis. "That propelled us into a very spirited competition today. Everybody today made or broke personal records, so I can't ask any more of them.
"Individually, we competed well, but for our team, we need to get stronger with the ability to cover the events that will score more points."
The MSU men's and women's outdoor track teams ended their schedules with the OVC Championships.
