Rifle Takes Two Second-Place FInishes

The Murray State rifle team placed second in two tournaments last weekend, taking part in the Memphis Tiger Open on Saturday and the Ole Miss Invitational on Sunday.
At the Tiger Open, the Racers fired a 2331 out of a possible 2400 in air rifle and a 2297 out of a possible 2400 in smallbore for an aggregate (combined) score of 4628 out of a possible 4800. Jacksonville State won the tournament with an aggregate of 4658, while Tennessee Tech was third at 4559, Mississippi was fourth at 4522 and host Memphis was fifth at 4495.
For Murray State, Kevin Witbrodt shot a tournament-best 581 out of a possible 600 in smallbore, while Cameron Hicks fired a 577. Bryany Wallizer shot a 571, while Dan Belluzzo fired a 568.
In smallbore, Wallizer shot a 589 out of a possible 600, while Witbrodt fired a 588. Hicks shot a 580, while Brandy Boucherie fired a 574.
At the Ole Miss Invitational, Murray State shot a 2328 in air rifle and a 2276 in smallbore for an aggregate of 4604. Jacksonville State won the tournament with a 4640, while host Mississippi was third at 4563, Memphis was fourth at 4548, Tennessee-Martin Mixed was fifth at 4529, Tennessee Tech was sixth at 4508 and Tennessee-Martin Women was seventh at 4379.
In air rifle, Witbrodt and Wallizer each shot a 585, while Belluzzo fired a 580 and Hicks shot a 578. In smallbore, Witbrodt and Hicks each fired a 571, while Belluzzo shot a 569 and Wallizer fired a 565.
Murray State will next compete at Austin Peay on Saturday and will host Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech in a tri-meet on Sunday at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range at MSU's Roy Stewart Stadium.
