Men's Tennis Participates In ITA Region Tournament

Murray State University's men's tennis team participated in the 2006 Wilson/ITA Region III Indoor Tournament on Friday. The event was hosted by the University of Kentucky at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington, Ky.

In the first round of singles, which featured 128 players, Andreas Siljestrom of Middle Tennessee State defeated Murray State's Dmytro Hryhorash, 6-1 and 7-6(3).

In other first round action for the Racers, Fadi Zamjaoui fell to Eastern Kentucky's Lars Gratzki, 6-4 and 7-5, and Hunter Gerlach lost to Ryan Preston of Vanderbilt, 6-4 and 6-1.

In doubles play Davey Sandgren and Kiril Tcherveniachki of Tennessee beat Jeff Lester and Yuri Pompeu 8-4. Hryhorash and Zamjaoui fell to Ivan Bjelica and Philippe Frayssinoux of Mississippi State by a score of 9-7.
