Murray State University's women's tennis team earned a win in its first Ohio Valley Conference match of the season after beating Southeast Missouri State University, 5-2, today in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Racers earned the doubles point and then claimed points in four of the six singles matches to seal the victory. MSU improves to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in OVC play. The Redhawks fall to 5-6 and 1-1 in the OVC.
In a battle between a pair of twin sisters, Murray State's Anna and Rachael Lask beat SEMO's Bryce and Drew Kristal at number one doubles 8-4. At number two doubles, Anne Pennington and Casady Pruitt took out Julia De Oliveira Masotti and Juliana Negosek by a score of 8-4.
Anna Lask picked up her second win of the day with a 6-4 and 6-0 victory at number one singles over Bryce Kristal.
Southeast Missouri earned its two points at number two and three singles. Drew Kristal beat Pennington, 7-5 and 6-1, at number two singles. Masotti downed Pruitt at number three singles, 6-2 and 6-2.
Murray State swept the four through six singles matches.
The Racers will play again on Sunday when they travel to Atlanta, Ga., to face Georgia State University at 10 a.m.
