Women?s Track And Field Team Finishes Indoor Season At OVC Championships

The Murray State women's track and field team finished their indoor season last weekend, competing at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Nashville, Tenn., on Feb. 24-25. The women finished in eighth place out of ten OVC teams, finishing with a total score of 23.

Southeast Missouri won the OVC Indoor title for the second straight season, finishing with a score of 137. Tennessee State was the runner-up with a composite score of 123, while Eastern Kentucky was next with a score of 85. In fourth place was Samford with a score of 77, followed by Eastern Illinois (74), Austin Peay (49), and Jacksonville State (43). Following Murray State was Tennessee Tech (6) and Morehead State (5).

Post-season awards were also announced, with the OVC Female Athlete of the Championship going to Sherlonda Johnson of Austin Peay, and the OVC Women's Coach of the Year being awarded to Southeast Missouri's Joey Haines.
