Dominque Robinson is starting to get warmed up. As the indoor track & field season turned to the outdoor season, Robinson has been getting better each time out.
Over the weekend at the Indiana State Pacesetter Invitational, Robinson scored a second, third and sixth place finish in three events. With a toss of 45 feet-one inch, Robinson finished second in the shot put, less than three inches behind champion Sheena James of Purdue. In the discus, she had a throw of 130 feet-eight inches and finished third. And in the hammer throw, Robinson made an effort of 141 feet-two inches to finish sixth.
MSU's other throwers had a good meet as well. Shameka Dial finished fifth inn the shot put with a throw of 40 feet-three inches. Laura Schroeder had a toss of 120 feet-nine inches in the hammer throw and finished eighth. Schroeder also finished inches behind Robinson in the discus in fourth, and had a toss of 110 feet-nine inches to place fifth in the javelin.
Jessica Nauta finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of
High jumper Maggie McKay had leap of five feet-three inches to finish third.
Middle distance specialist Lauren Wilson finished seventh in the 1500 meter run with a time of
Andreye' Payne had a leap of 33 feet-one inch to place eighth in the triple jump.
The Lady Racers are back in action Friday and Saturday in
