
'Breds Go Scoreless At SEMO, 7-0 Today

The Murray State Thoroughbreds were unable to avoid being swept in its Ohio Valley Conference series at homestanding Southeast Missouri, falling to the Redhawks 7-0 this afternoon, their third straight shutout game at SEMO.
The 'Breds could eke out only four hits in the game in chalking up their 10th straight loss, equaling their longest-ever schneid, originally set over the 1954-55 seasons.
In today's game, Southeast Missouri (10-14, 3-3 OVC) scored a run in the second inning and one in the fourth before exploding for three runs in the fifth inning to bolster the Redhawks' win.
Chaz Ebert and Brett Wilson each doubled for Murray State (7-21, 0-6 OVC). Tyler Pittman and Austin Swain also had one hit each for the 'Breds. Dustin Prtichett led the SEMO offense with three hits, including a triple, while Levi Olson also had three hits, including two doubles, and two runs.
In the field, first baseman Michal Perconte had seven putouts, while second baseman Seth Hudson -- who saw his 10-game hit streak snapped today -- and shortstop Justin Yount each had two assists. For SEMO, catcher Olson had eight putouts, while shortstop Robby Moore had three assists.
On the mound, Andrew Bishop (1-3, 0-2 OVC) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking one in four-plus innings. West Harris came on in the fifth, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out two and walking one in two innings. Marc Harmon pitched the seventh inning, allowing no runs on one hit, walking one, while Jon Newton pitched the eighth inning, allowing one run on one hit, striking out one and walking one.
SEMO's Derek Herbig (2-1) got the win, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out six and walking two in seven innings. James Hibbard pitched the eighth inning, allowing one hit, striking out one and walking one, while Michael Taylor pitched the ninth, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Murray State seeks to end its doldrums at Arkansas State on Wednesday in a 6:35 p.m. game.
