Murray State Track & Field Teams Compete At Vanderbilt Invitational

The Murray State University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., this past weekend. Four Lady Racers combined for five top-10 finishes led by Laura Schroeder's fourth place finish in the javelin throw.

Jessica Nauta's time of 1:06.95 in the 400 meter hurdles was good enough for a seventh place finish. Lauren Wilson placed eighth in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:41.9. Maggie McKay finished 10^th in the high jump with a distance of 1.58 meters. Schroeder recorded her second top-10 when she finished 10^th in the discus throw with a distance of 38.47.

Chanel Morgan placed just outside the top-10 in the triple jump, as did Dominique Robinson in the shot put. Morgan's 10.82m placed 11^th as did Robinson's 13.73m in the shot put.

On the men's side, John Gorey finished the 5000 meter run in 15:34.34, good enough for 11^th. Chris Champion recorded a 15^th place finish in the shot put after a throw of 14.19m.

Both the men and women's teams will compete at the Western Kentucky Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky.
