Murray State Women's Tennis Beats Eastern Illinois

After suffering its first conference loss of the season on Tuesday, the Murray State University's women's tennis team rebounded with a 7-0 win over Eastern Illinois University today at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Ky. The Racers combined to lose just one game in the bottom four singles matches, posting three 6-0 and 6-0 victories.

MSU improves to 9-8 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Panthers fall to 4-12 on the season and 1-5 in league matches.

Tami McQueen and Adriana Alvarez got things started for Murray State with an 8-1 victory at number three doubles over Sam Lininger and Cristina Carrillo. MSU went on to sweep all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

In singles, Anne Pennington at number four, Alvarez at number five and McQueen at number six all posted 6-0 and 6-0 victories. Casady Pruitt lost just one game on her way to beating Stephanie Harmazy, 6-1 and 6-0, at number three singles.

After Pennington and Pruitt earned their singles wins to give MSU a 3-0 lead, Anna Lask clinched the match for the Racers with a straight-set, 6-1 and 6-3, victory over Sandra Sasidharan at number one singles.

The Racers will be in action again on Friday when they face Samford University at 2:30 p.m., at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts on the MSU campus.
