MSU Basketball Signs George Fotso

Murray State head men's basketball coach Billy Kennedy announced the signing of George Fotso to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday.

At 6-8, 240 pounds, Fotso turned in 16 double-doubles last season in leading Piney Woods to a No. 1 ranking in Mississippi Class 2A and a No. 4 ranking overall in the state. PWS finished the season 21-6.
As a senior in 2005-06, Fotso averaged 8.5 points per game and pulled down 13.1 rebounds His field-goal percentage from the field was .558, and he was a .707 shooter from the free-throw line. He was named to the Clarion-Ledger All-Metro Team, an area covering the three-county metro region of Jackson, Miss.
Kennedy was pleased to get a player of Fotso's talent.
“He's raw, but he has great potential,” Kennedy said. “He works hard and comes from a great program. I'm excited about him developing with us for the next four years and becoming a force in the OVC.”
His coach at Piney Woods, Wayne Brent, called Fotso a player with a tremendous upside.
“He's one of the hardest working kids I've ever coached,” Brent said. “He's the kind of kid who is the first one there and the last one to leave.”
