Lady Racer Track & Field Post Top Finishes at OVC Outdoor

Led by underclassmen, the Murray State Women's Track & Field team posted nine top-10 finishes over the weekend at the O'Reilly's Ohio Valley Conference Championships hosted by
Continuing her consistent performance throughout the indoor and outdoor season, MSU sophomore Dominique Robinson placed third in the discus with a throw of 137 feet-11 inches. She also finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 44 feet-3.25 inches. Teammate Laura Schroeder, also a sophomore, placed fourth in the discus with an effort of 134 feet-five inches. Schroeder also had a throw of 110 feet-two inches in the Javelin and finished eighth. Shameka Dial finished 9th with a toss of 105 feet.
Senior middle distance runner Lauren Hughes finished fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:44.89 and seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.07.
Four freshmen, Jessica Nauta, Maggie McKay, Alicia Tempel and Olivia Joseph all placed in the top-10 in their respective events. Nauta took seventh in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:06.08 and McKay finished 10th with a leap of five feet-one inch in the high jump. Joseph placed 10th in the triple jump with an effort of 36 feet-8.25 inches. Tempel finished 5th in the pole vault with a leap of 10 feet-six inches.
Junior Morgan Chanel turned in an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet-two inches.
