MSU Football & Hoops Coaches Hilight Chamber Dinner

Murray State Head Football Coach Matt Griffin and Men's Basketball Coach Billy Kennedy are a rare part of Racer history. They are linked because the Racers have new coaches in those sports in the same year for the first time since Mike Gottfried and Ron Greene came to MSU as new coaches in 1978.
The two again shared the stage Thursday at the 79th Annual Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce Dinner that was held in the ballroom at MSU's
It was also a grand occasion because
Kennedy (who had a previous commitment) appeared via video tape and was introduced by his wife Mary. During his taped message, Kennedy spoke about how he and his staff have hit the ground running as they prepare for the 2006-07 season.
"We've worked extremely hard to put together a team that can compete in the OVC and be a team that our fans can be proud of," Kennedy said. "I've been able to bring in an outstanding staff (Steve Prohm, Chad Dollar and Dusty May) and they have been invaluable in helping us build our program here at MSU."
"I have two sons and would be more than confident to have them play some day for any one of my assistant coaches,"
With the beginning of preseason camp this weekend,
"I want all of you to come out and see us practice, and bring your kids too,"
Rolling Hills Nursery was named as the Chamber's Small Business of the Year. Owner Rob Stanfa was a tailback on the Racers squad from 1973-75.
