Tyler Holloway-Bruce Carter Earn OVC Honors

Murray State junior Tyler Holloway and junior Bruce Carter were named the Ohio Valley Conference weekly award winners after they helped the Racers to two wins last week at Eastern Illinois and Tennessee State.

Holloway was named the OVC's Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He turned in two outstanding games in two MSU victories in which he averaged 25.3 points and scored 51 total points. He had 22 points against Eastern Illinois Jan. 2 and 29 against Tennessee State Jan. 4, a career-high. Holloway was red-hot in both games and hit 13-of-20 field goal attempts (65%) and 9-of-15 from 3-point range (60%). Holloway also moved into first place in the OVC in free throw shooting when he went 9-of-9 against Tennessee State; he was 16-of-17 from line for the week (94.1%).

Holloway came to Murray State from Decatur, Ala.

Bruce Carter is the OVC's Newcomer of the week for the second consecutive week. He averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game last week. Carter scored 28 points in the EIU game and followed with 15 in the TSU contest. Carter led the Racers in rebounding in both games with a total of 14 and shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the field.

Carter's hometown is Detroit, Mich.

Roderick Pearson of Southeast Missouri State was named the OVC's Freshman of the Week.
