Kennedy Talks Hoops On Media Day

With the regular season set to begin Saturday with an exhibition game,
“We're excited about the season, it's coming up real fast,” Kennedy said as the Racers prepare to host
“The strength of our team is the core guys that we had last year,” Kennedy said. “They played a lot last year for us and they've shown a lot of promise so far this season.”
What a difference a year makes. One year ago the Racers had 11 new players and only one who had played more than one season at the D-I level.
“We're miles far ahead. If that would equate to more wins, that would be great,” Kennedy added. “We definitely have some togetherness, and we have some players we can lean on for leadership.”
“We're way ahead of last year because last year, we didn't know anybody. And they didn't know me.”
The Racers certainly aren't taking it easy when it comes to the non-conference part of their 2007-08 schedule. MSU has games with Rider,
“We know they (Rider) scrimmaged Seton Hall a few days ago,” Kennedy said. “Their guard play is solid and they have one of the best post players (Jason Thompson) in the country. It's going to be quite a challenge.”
“You look at the rest of our schedule and see teams who have players returning and teams that had success last year.
“
“We know how good
Kennedy and his staff are excited and still in the process of building a program. They have the student-athletes in place to make the 2007-08 season a memorable one.
“This year we're working on things that can win a championship, not just throwing it out there and getting guys to compete like last year,” Kennedy said.” We're excited about the nucleus we have going and we're excited about Murray State basketball ? not only this year, but in the future.”
