Kennedy Visits With Media-Season Opener Vs Rider Saturday

Now that the Murray State Racers have played their exhibition game, an 82-49 win Saturday over
Game time for MSU's 2007-08 season opener is 7 p.m.
During his weekly news conference with local media members, Kennedy talked about the opener and the exhibition win.
“Our kids have bought into what we're trying to do,” Kennedy said. “We had good ball pressure and forced a lot of turnovers and made some easy baskets off our defense.”
“We played as a team, but we have to get to the point where we can do that for 40 minutes.”

“We're playing a very good Rider team,” Kennedy said. “They're picked high in their conference and have four starters returning.”
The Racers will have their hands full with Rider 6-10 senior center Jason Thompson, who is one of 50 student-athletes on the pre-season Wooden Award watch list.
“We've been looking at Rider since last season,” Kennedy said. “It's going to be a team effort in guarding him (Thompson), we can't let him go crazy, and he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game last season.”
As for the progress of his MSU team, Kennedy said he's seeing some good things.
I felt better after watching the tape,” Kennedy added. “We had people in the right spots, but they didn't make the play all the time. Our stamp is tough hard defense and we're getting better at that.”
