MSU Faces Belmont In Chattanooga Consolation

The Murray State Racers dropped game one of the Dr. Pepper Holiday Classic hosted by Tennessee-Chattanooga Saturday in a 74-50 loss.
The Racers and Bruins meet for only the fifth time since their first go around in 1986. MSU has won all four meetings including the last one in 1998 by the score of 76-69 in
Last night, the Racers trailed 40-23 at half time against the host Mocs, but exploded from the gate at the start of the second and cut UTC's 17-point down to eight with a 9-0 run. The Mocs recovered and pushed their lead back to 14 points and MSU never got any closer. The Racers had one player in double-figure scoring, from Marvin Williams who scored a season-high 12 points on 3-of-7 shooting, he was also 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
The Racers' two leading scorers: Danero Thomas and Tyler Holloway were held to a combined eight points on 3-of-19 shooting. The two normally provide an average of 22-plus points to the MSU Attack.
Ready or not, the Racers must attack one of the toughest stretches of games on their schedule over the next several days as their attention turns back to Ohio Valley Conference games.
