Lady Racers third after first day of OVC Indoor Championships

OVC Track and Field Athlete of the Year Domninque Robinson of Murray State and her teammate Shameka Dial finished first and second Friday in the 20-pound weight throw at the OVC Indoor Championships. The event is being hosted by Eastern Illinois.
The Lady Racers were in third place after the first day of events with a total of 25.50 points. Eastern Illinois was the leader with 38.0, points, while Tennessee State was in second with a score of 29.0.
Robinson won the event with a toss of 54 feet-4 inches. Dial was just behind her with a throw of 54 feet-1 inch.
MSU had two other top-10 finishes on day one with Maggie McKay placing fourth in the high jump (five feet-4.25 inches) and Josha Rogers placed seventh (five feet-2.25 inches).
The Lady Racers will try to stay in the hunt for the title today in Charleston, Ill.
MSU is looking for their first OVC Indoor title since 1992.
