Eastern Illinois Comeback Beats Men's Tennis 4-3

Murray State's men's tennis fell to Eastern Illinois University, 4-3, today in Charleston, Ill. The Racers (4-13, 3-5 OVC) won the doubles point to take an early lead but the Panthers (13-5, 5-4 OVC) won four of the six singles matches to earn the victory.

Dmytro Hryhorash and Fadi Zamjaoui defeated Brandon Lenfert and Vuk Milicevic, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles. Hunter Gerlach and Chris Horton edged Charles Levaque and Jordan Nestrud, 9-8, at No. 3 doubles.

Zamjaoui took out Levaque 6-1 and 7-6 at No. 1 singles. Hryhorash knocked off Milicevic 5-7, 6-4 and 10-5 at No. 2 singles.

EIU's Lenfert, Jeffrey Rutherford and Nestrud earned straight set victories at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Jeff Lester won the first set, 6-3, over Chris Thomas at No. 4 singles but Thomas came back to win the second set 6-3 and force a decisive third set. EIU picked up the win when Thomas finished off the comeback with a 6-4 victory in the third set.

The Racers will close out their regular season schedule on Monday when they play host to Austin Peay State University at 2:30 p.m., at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts on the MSU campus.
