Men's Tennis Looks To Turn Close Loses Into Wins At OVC Tourney

The Racers enter the tournament with a 5-13 overall record and a 4-5 Ohio Valley Conference mark. MSU is just three points away from being 7-2 in league matches.
One of those 4-3 loses came against second seeded Tennessee Tech, which will be the Racers' opponent in the semifinals if they can get by Samford in the first round. The semifinal match is scheduled for Saturday at
MSU played a tough non-conference schedule, facing five teams ranked in the top-60 in the nation.
Senior Fadi Zamjaoui has led the team from the No. 1 spot. Zamjaoui is 9-4 overall and 8-0 against conference opponents. He was named OVC Male Tennis Athlete of the Week on April 11.
Zamjaoui has won 17 straight singles matches against OVC opponents, dating back to the 2006 season.
Senior Dmytro Hryhorash compiled a 6-3 record against OVC foes in 2007.
Zamjaoui and Hryhorash have teamed for a 6-2 OVC doubles record at the No. 1 position.
In addition to playing well at the top of the line-up, MSU has found success recently at the bottom as well. At No. 5 singles, Yuri Pompeu has won three of his last five matches. Chris Horton has claimed victory at No. 6 singles in three of his last five matches.
The Racers have been strong in doubles play over the last month of the season, earning the doubles point in eight of their last 10 matches.
Hunter Gerlach and Horton have teamed to win three of their last four matches at No. 3 doubles.
