MSU Track & Field Competes in Vanderbilt Invitational

The Murray State women's track and field team traveled to Nashville, Tenn. for the Vanderbilt Invitational this Saturday, in preparation for the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, which is just two weeks away.
Freshman Taylor Crawford finished 16th out of 91 competitors in the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:15.85, while Amber Thomas also competed in the event, finishing with a time of 2:32.00.
Crawford also competed in the 1500 Meter Run, finishing 12th out of 71 runners with a time of 4:42.71.
Alaina Zanin competed in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing 28th in the field of 65 with a time of 18:34.37, while Kristen Miller finished 32nd in the field with a time of 18:52.31.
In the 400 Meter Hurdles, Sydney Gholston, with a time of 1:06.61, finished in 17th place out of 35 competitors, while Meagan Richeson (1:07.99) finished 22nd in the same event.
To round out the track portion of the meet for Murray State, Kassandra Sutzer competed in the 200 Meter Dash, finishing with a time of 26.60.
In the 4x100 Meter Relay, Murray State finished 11th out of 16 teams, with a time of 49.02. Murray State also competed in the 4x400 Meter Relay, finishing 14th out of 19 teams with a time of 4:01.99.
Murray State placed two top-10 finishers in the High Jump, with Josha Rogers finishing 4th with a jump of 1.67 m (5-05.75), and Maggie McKay jumping 1.62 m (5-03.75), good enough for eighth place.
Chelsea Hosey finished with a 5.19 m (17-00.50) jump in the Long Jump competition, and Sutzer jumped 4.54 m (14-10.75) in the same event.
Sophomore Alicia Tempel (3.20 m; 10-06.00) competed in the Pole Vault, while Andreye' Payne (10.29 m; 33-09.25) participated in the Triple Jump.
Pam Bell led a trio of Racers in the Shot Put competition, finishing 29th out of 49 with a toss of 12.04 m (39-06.00). Shameka Dial (11.59 m; 38-00.25) and Felicia Hargis (10.68 m; 35-00.50) also finished strong for the Racers in the Shot Put.
Junior co-captain Laura Schroeder led the pack of Murray State's four throwers in the Discus Throw, finishing 7th out of 35 competitors with a throw of 42.51 m (139-06). Bell finished 10th in the competition with a 41.42 m (135-11) throw, while Dial (39.37 m; 129-02) and Hargis (28.80 m; 94-06) also competed for the Racers.
To wrap up the day's field action, Schroeder finished 17th out of 29 throwers in the Javelin Throw, with a toss of 33.48 m; 109-10.
Murray State resumes action next weekend (April 27) at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn.
