MSU Defeats Austin Peay 47-43 at Battle of the Lakes Invitational

The Murray State track and field team got a tune-up for the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships this Friday, competing in the Battle of the Lakes Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn. The event was a head-to-head battle with Austin Peay, with the Racers prevailing by a 47-43 score.
Josha Rogers (5-4) finished first out of six competitors in the High Jump, an event that five Racers competed in. Maggie McKay, Lindsay Rich, Chelsea Hosey all tied for second place in the event with a jump of 5-2, while Rachel Haley also jumped, with a jump of 4-8.
Kassandra Sutzer was the only Racer to compete in the Long Jump, finishing in first place with a jump of 5.02 m.
Shameka Dial led a trio of Racers in the Shot Put, finishing in first place with a toss of 12.27 m. Pam Bell (12.21 m) and Felicia Hargis (11.13 m) also ocmpeted in the event for the Racers.
Laura Schroeder (32.72 m), Hargis (29.50 m), and Haley (22.15 m) competed in the Javelin Throw, producing solid finishes for the Racers.
Meagan Richeson was the only Racer to compete in the 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing in first place with a time of 1:08.90.
Olivia Joseph finished in first place in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.90.
In the 1600 Meter Relay, Murray State's 'A' team finished in first place with a time of 4:06.80, while the 'B' team finished with a time of 4:20.30.
In the 4x100 Relay, Murray State finished with a time of 50.70.
Murray State now will compete in the OVC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston, Ill. on May 4-5.
