Men's Tennis Falls to Louisville in Season Opener

The Murray State men's tennis team opened the 2008 season on Friday evening and came away with a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals, who were playing their third match of the season and second of the day, took advantage of their home courts as they were able to handle the Racers in the first competitive action of the season.
Yuri Pompeu had the toughest match of the day as he faced #36 Austen Childs and fell 6-0, 6-1 at the top singles spot. Senior Hunter Gerlach dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to David Simon at No. 2 single,a nd Nicholas Ksiezopolski fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3.
Chris Horton played No. 4 singles and fell 6-1, 6-3 to Robert Rotaru, while newcomer Jadir Junior fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Mikel Headford had the most competitive match of the day at No. 6 singles as he put together a strong second set before falling 6-2, 7-5 to Ben Clos.
In doubles action, the team of Horton and Gerlach dropped an 8-4 decision to Simon and Kenneth Nordheim at the top spot. The No. 2 doubles team of Ksiezopolski and Pompeu nearly pulled out a victory as the fell 8-7 to Childs and Clos. The duo of Junior and Adam Perry fell 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
