The Murray State Men's Basketball team took the floor of the
MSU Head Coach Billy Kennedy in his third season, and he is enjoying having four returning starters and a bunch of student-athletes who are well acquainted.
The third season has put the program ahead of past years.
“It helps to have the numbers of players who are familiar with our program,” Kennedy said. “They know what we want to do. We've had a good preseason to this point, now we want to continue to get better and build toward the regular season.”

In each of Billy Kennedy's first two seasons, the Racers have led the Ohio Valley Conference in field goal defense.
Last season, opponents managed to shoot only .428 against MSU and were limited to 69 points per game.
“We're trying to establish our defensive identity in the first two weeks of practice,” Kennedy said. “We're looking to set the tone with our effort and intensity on defense.”
In the preseason, the Racers' fellow OVC members have taken notice of what Kennedy is doing at
In the OVC's preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information director, the Racers were the number one pick.
The Racers first time out will be at home Nov. 11 against
