The Murray State Rifle team finished the fall portion of the 2008-09 schedule by taking Ole Miss to the wire in a 4556-4539 loss at the
“I think we have learned some things about ourselves this fall,” MSU Head Coach Alan Lollar said. “We are learning to compete, and that doesn't happen overnight. This team works hard, and it will eventually be rewarded.”
The Racers had a winning effort in the air rifle competition by besting the Rebels 2301 to 2290, but this came after the Racers had fallen behind in the smallbore 2266 to 2238.
Erica Meece posted 568 in smallbore and 579 in air rifle, while Kasey Meyer continued to shoot well, posting a 576 smallbore and 586 air rifle.
“Erica and Kasey both shot well,” Lollar said. “We look for Erica to continue with consistency for the last semester of her senior year.”
Lollar added, “Ashley Rose did a nice job in smallbore with a 562, her first time into the 560's this year. She is set to really have a fine spring.”
The Racers now take a break until getting back into competition Jan. 17 at
“We are looking forward to this break and a chance to prepare for finals, and spend time with our families over Christmas,” Lollar said.
“We will use that time to recharge for the stretch run, because this team has some good scores in them and it's our challenge to post them on match day.”
