McGahee Helps Lead Women's Tennis to 5-2 Victory Over Evansville

Murray State sophomore Angela McGahee continued her strong play on the court this Spring as he helped the Racers improve to 4-1 on the season with a convincing 5-2 victory over Evansville Saturday afternoon at the Kenlake Tennis Center.
Playing the top spot in both singles and doubles, McGahee continued to lead the team with her play on the court as she teamed with junior Anne Pennington for an 8-6 victory in doubles. The duo of McGahee and Pennington improved to 4-0 this spring at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, McGahee picked up her second point on the day as she defeated Lisa Kawamoto 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
The Racers were able to take the doubles point as sophomore Lynsey Bochenek and freshman Katelyn Fulcher teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 3. Bochenek was not so fortunate in singles action as she fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 to drop her first singles match of the season after winning her first eight matches of the fall and spring.
With the match tied 2-2, freshman Alexis Webb gave the Racers the lead for good with a hard-fought 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-5) victory over Pin Sorenson at No. 4. The singles victory was Webb's team-leading 11th of the 2007-08 season.
Lyndsay Ottosen sealed the victory for MSU at No. 5 singles as she needed three sets for a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over UE's Stephanie Millis. Adriana Alvarez closed out the day with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Allie Cox at No. 6 singles.
The Racers return to the court on Feb. 26 as they take on Memphis in a match that was rescheduled after being rained out in Baton Rouge, La. on Feb. 17. First serve is set for 1 p.m. and the weather will determine if the match will be played at the Purcell Tennis Courts or the Kenlake Tennis Center.
