Men's Tennis Drops OVC Opener to #73 Tennessee Tech

The Murray State men's tennis team dropped its Ohio Valley Conference opener on Monday as the Racers fell 7-0 to #73 Tennessee Tech. With the loss, MSU drops to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in OVC action.
The Golden Eagles captured the doubles point, but it was not easy. After taking an 8-3 victory at the second spot, TTU found itself locked in battles at the first and third spots. The top duo of Dean O'Brien and Giovanni Vaglietti clinched the point as they squeaked by Chris Horton and Hunter Gerlach, 8-6. At the No. 3 spot, Mason Johnson and Jadir Semensin fell at the same score.
In singles action, the Golden Eagles jumped out with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. At the top spot, Gerlach battled in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-1 to Borja Zarco. Mikel Headford found himself locked in a tough match at No. 6 singles against Lloyd Harris before Harris gutted out the second set to take the match 6-3, 7-5.
The Racers return to the courts on March 25 as they play host to Tennessee State. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at Purcell Courts.
